Obituary of Ruth Raycroft

Ruth E. Raycroft, formerly of State College and currently of Wexford, PA, passed into the presence of her Lord at the Geisinger Medical Center in Lewistown, PA on April 13, 2014. Born November 20,1931 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Rev. E. R. Raycroft and Lillian Wilson Raycroft, and the sister of the late Rev. Robert Paul Raycroft, Sr. She received her B.S. from Bucknell University and her M.S. from Penn State. She primarily taught microbiology for Penn State, along with coordinating and presenting seminars to health care personnel. In the early 1970's she relocated to University Park where she spent the next five years in administration. She received the Penn State Shenango Teacher of the Year Award in 1997, and retired from Penn State after more than 34 years of service. In addition to her sister, Lillian Raycroft Hadden (David), she is survived by various nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 6-8 PM Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College, PA, and from 1-2 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Oakwood Presbyterian Church, 1865 Waddle Road, State College, PA. Funeral services will follow on April 17, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Church, with Dr. David L. Hadden and other clergymen officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, State College, PA.
