Obituary of Anna Garcia

Anna Ida Garcia, 97, of Pennsylvania Furnace, went to her rest in the Lord on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at The Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, State College. Born July 18, 1916, in Curitiba, Brazil, she was the daughter of the late Ludwig and Anna Kuehn Braun. On May 2, 1937, she married Dario Garcia, who preceded her in death in July of 1967. She is survived by one son, Rubem Garcia and his wife, Evanir, of College Place, WA; one daughter, Ruth von Dorpowski "Mickie" and her husband, Horst, of Pine Grove Mills; one daughter in-law, Sonia Garcia of Guarapari, Brazil; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Flavio Garcia and two sisters, Emilia Braun and Hedwig Rabello. Anna received her associate's degree in 1936 from Brazil College, Sao Paulo, Brazil. She retired in 1997 after twenty plus years from the Review and Herald Publishing Association in Maryland. Prior to that she worked in the bindery department at Andrews University. Anna was a member of the State College Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m., on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the funeral home, with the Pastor Leo Ranzolin officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
