Obituary of Jane Hively

Jane Moyer Hively, 98, of Belleville, died Monday, May 5, 2014, at Valley View Haven. Born November 20, 1915, in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Ellen Westman Pettit. On March 7, 1936 she married Belty P. Moyer who preceded her in death on January 28, 1965, she married Stanley F. Gulbernat on August 17, 1974 he preceded her in death on April 5, 1996 and then married Amos W. Hively on April 26, 2003 he preceded her in death on January 25, 2011. She is survived by three children, Barry L. Moyer and his wife Beverly, of Midland, MI, Gary G. Moyer and his wife, Judy, of State College, Donald C. Moyer and his wife, Karen, of Pittsburgh, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Jane was a 1933 graduate of East Lampeler High School. After moving to State College in 1949 from the Lancaster area, Jane became an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and has maintained her membership for sixty two years. She participated in teaching the children, Friendship classes, Circles, Bible studies and supported projects of the church. She was a volunteer at Centre Community Hospital, a volunteer and continued to be a member of the State College Women's Club and a former member of Altrusa Club She liked to play any kind of games, especially bridge thru which she met so many special friends. Since her husband and sons enjoyed archery, she added that to her agenda so she could spend more time with her family. The love of her life died in January 28, 1965. On August 17, 1974 Jane married Stanley Gulbernat and inherited a very special family. Stanley's son, Barry Gulbernat, preceded her in death in 1993 and daughter Sally Gulbernat, Lang, Johnson, of MI who survives. In her twenty two years of marriage with Stanley she and their family became very caring of one another. It was a special second family. Jane and Stanley retired to Valley View Haven Retirement Community in Belleville in April 1991. They became active residents there and volunteered in many ways. Stanley died on April 9, 1996. While at Valley View Haven, Jane met Amos Hively. They married April 26, 2003 with blessings from all of their families. Jane now had another special step-family consisting of Amos's daughters, Margaret "Peggy" Warner and her husband Gary, of Lewistown, and Elaine Havens, of San Antonio, TX . Jane also had a stepson; George Ridley, deceased and stepdaughter Linda Hively Bernoth, deceased. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 9, 2014, at Koch Funeral Home with the Rev. Eric Shafer Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, State College. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley View Haven, 4702 E. Main St., Belleville, PA 17004 or St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 109 McAllister St., State College, PA 16801.
