Obituary of Vivian Sabean

Vivian Agnet Coburn Slaybough Sabean 1916 - 2014 Vivian Agnet Slaybough Coburn Sabean, 97, of State College passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center. Vivian was born in Fulda, Minnesota on July 16, 1916. She was a graduate of Colorado College where she earned a Master of Arts degree after receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mankato State University. She did her graduate work at Pennsylvania State University and Temple University. Vivian coordinated the art program in the State College Area Schools for many years. After her retirement, she was a Docent at the Palmer Art Museum and was active in the League of Women Voters, Penn State Alumni Association, State College Retired Teachers Association and Schlow Library. In 1939 Vivian married Merl Lee Coburn, who preceded her in death. She later married Samuel C. Sabean on August 23, 1948, who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Roberta Coburn. Vivian is survived by her granddaughter, Avec F. Langridge of Lansing, NY A memorial service will be 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., on Friday, August 22, 2014 at Juniper Village at Brookline, The Inn, 1950 Cliffside Drive, State College, in the Queen Anne Room.
