Obituary of Gladys Dreese

Gladys Sarah Haagen Dreese, 94, of Lemont and Pleasant Gap, died Monday, September 1, 2014 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born August 2, 1920, in Beech Creek Township, she was the daughter of the late William W. and Eva B. Mayes Haagen. On May 29, 1937, she married Robert H. Dreese, who preceded her in death on May 10, 2000. She is survived by three children, Robert Donald Dreese and his wife, Eloise, of Elizabethtown, Shirley Ann Eckenroth of Pleasant Gap and Marjorie Kay Pabis and her husband, Dennis, of Throop; five grandchildren, Navy Commander Douglas Dreese and his wife, Michelle, of Chesapeake, VA, Navy Lieutenant Derrick Dreese and his wife, Heather, of Chesapeake, VA, Kristine Zerby and her husband, Richard, of Port Matilda, Bryan Eckenroth and his companion, Malissa Gadlage, of Jeffersonville, IN and Dr. Dennis Pabis and his wife, Megan, of San Antonio, TX; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Francis, Rlynn, Albert, Harold, Sylvester, Cyrus and Harry Haagen, seven sisters, Eunice Peters, Elizabeth Poorman, Pearl Peters, Ida Cunnane, Iva Mantle, Barbara Peters and Dorothy Haines and one grandson, Richard Dreese. She was of the protestant faith. She was a member of the Daughters of America and of the Logan Grange. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., on Friday, September 5, 2014 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College. Funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend David Spaugh officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bald Eagle Baptist Church, c/o Melanie Hannon, 221 Mudlick Road, Julian, PA 16844. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
