Obituary of George Beck

George Boyd Beck, 87, of Port Matilda, died Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center. George was born on May 6, 1927 and grew up in State College. He was the son of William Henry and Blanche Anna Gummo Beck. He married Shirley J. Kanouff, on June 6, 1959 in Clearfield. He is survived by his children, Connie J. Dwyer and husband, Joseph, of Julian, Dale E. Beck, and his wife, of Port Matilda, and Melissa A. Loner and husband, Kevin of Port Matilda; and six grandchildren In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Beck on July 15, 1995 and his 5 siblings. George attended school in State College. He retired as a dairy farmer for Penn State University in 1992 after 37 years. He was a member of the Port Matilda United Methodist Church. George was an avid hunter and also enjoyed gardening. The visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 2:00 to 2:30 pm with a funeral service to follow at 2:30pm at Koch Funeral Home. Burial will be in Port Matilda Cemetery.
