Obituary of Edith Hagenberger

Edith Joan Hagenberger "Joan" 88, formerly of State College, Lewistown, and Lancaster died October 4, 2014, at Elmcroft. She was born February 27, 1926, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Daniel and Edith Myers Rhinier. On January 16, 1954, she married Gene M. Hagenberger of Harrisburg, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, Lou Marie Rhinier Resch, and a brother, Daniel Rhinier. Joan is survived by her three children, Rev. Gene Jr. and wife Jan of Hanover, Robert and wife Brenda of Lewistown, Dr. Jill of Jacksonville, FL., two grandchildren, Elise Hagenberger Pittrizzi and husband Casey of Alexandria, VA, Grant Hagenberger and wife Mary of Linglestown, and a great-granddaughter, Amelia. She is also survived by nieces Kathy Lou Resch Rhoades and Barbara Jo Rhinier. Joan worked at the Lancaster Seed Company and devoted her life to family after marriage. Joan's love and joy was spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in State College. Her service will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Asera Care Hospice, 1015 Logan Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
