Obituary of Elizabeth Orr

Elizabeth (Betty) L. Orr, 74, of State College, died Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born November 28, 1940 in Rush Township, Centre County, she was the daughter of the late John and Martha Royer Parnay. She married Richard S. Orr on December 23, 1961, who survives at home. She is survived by two children, Susan R. Harpster and her husband, Craig, of Port Matilda, Scott R. Orr and his wife, Judith, of Pleasant Gap, a sister, Donna J. Frank, of Bellefonte, four grandchildren, Amanda, Ryan, Andrew and Rachel, one great granddaughter, Maci Rae, and two nephews, John Parnay and Curtis Frank. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Parnay on September 15, 2003. Betty was a 1958 graduate of Bellefonte High School. She was a member of the Pine Hall Lutheran Church where she served as Treasurer of the Altar Guild. She enjoyed flower gardening and canning. She was known for her homemade spaghetti sauce. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She also enjoyed spending time with her family at the beach. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. A visitation will be held at Pine Hall Lutheran church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday, January 15, 2015. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Pine Hall Lutheran Church, 1760 West College Avenue, State College with the Reverend Susan Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, State College. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Pine Hall Lutheran Church, 1760 West College Avenue, State College, PA 16801 or the American Cancer Society, Centre Unit, 123 South Sparks Street, State College, PA 16801.
