Obituary of D. Focht

D. Wayne Focht passed away peacefully at home January 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Born February 13, 1938 in Williamsburg, to the late Miles and Jennie White Focht. He married Donna Fay Stapleton at Fairbrook United Methodist Church on March 2, 1963 who survives at home. In addition to his wife of 51 years, Wayne is survived by three children: Steve Focht and his wife, Tracy, of Warriors Mark, Greg Focht, of State College, and Brenda Cowfer and her husband, James, of Sanford, NC. Pappy was adored by his grandchildren: Jacob and his wife, Holly, Hannah, Emma & Noah Cowfer and Coy, Ava & Mara Focht. Also surviving are siblings Francis Focht and his wife, Joan, of Stockertown, Elizabeth Pheasant, of Martinsburg, Rev. Lawrence Focht and his wife, Sally, of Arndtsville, Ronald Focht and his wife, Lois, of Martinsburg, and Galen Focht, of Plant City, FL and a large number of loving extended family members. He was preceded to heaven by siblings G. William Focht, Ralph Focht, Phyllis Stultz and Donald Focht. He graduated in 1956 from Williamsburg Area High School and 1975 from Penn State University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 through 1964. Previously employed by IBM in New York City, NY; Moog Valve in Buffalo, NY; HRB Singer in State College, PA; Supelco in Bellefonte, PA; Raytheon/HRB in State College, PA and Computer Science Corporation (CSC) in Fort Washington, PA. Music and ministry were very much enjoyed in Wayne's life while he served as Lay Speaker at several local churches, Choir Director and multiple committee/board positions at Fairbrook United Methodist Church and sang in both the State College & Bucks County Choral Society, numerous weddings, social events and gospel quartets. In addition to faithfully serving the Lord, he enjoyed membership in the Toastmasters' Society, traveling, couples club, watching Penn State and Pittsburgh sports, attending Special Olympics events and cheering on his grandchildren at their various activities. Friends and family will be received Thursday, January 15th from 5:00-8:00 PM at Koch Funeral Home in State College. A celebration of life and funeral will be held Friday, January 16th at 11:00 AM at Fairbrook United Methodist Church in Pennsylvania Furnace. Graveside services and burial will follow at Fairbrook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to c/o Pieter Ouwehand, Treasurer, Special Olympics Centre County, P.O.
