Obituary of Ardyce Jensen

Ardyce Maxine Jensen (nee Paulsen), 86, died January 17, 2015, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA. Ardyce was born March 9, 1928, in Harlan, Iowa, to John and Nora (Jorgensen) Paulsen. She graduated from Harlan High School in 1947. Ardyce met Harvey Jensen while she was working for a Harlan attorney. They married on July 26, 1949, at Bethel Baptist Church in Harlan. Harvey worked in Chicago for six years, before they moved to State College. After Harvey retired from Penn State they enjoyed travelling, making two trips to Europe, in 1990 and 1996, and spending the winter months in California, Arizona, Texas and Florida. Harvey preceded her in death on January 29, 2014. In State College Harvey and Ardyce read about a new church, Calvary Baptist. They attended the first service, and remained in the church, helping it grow from a tiny group into the large, vibrant church it is today. Ardyce loved gardening and created a beautiful landscape around their State College house. After her children were grown she returned to work at the Penn State Bookstore. In retirement she acted as volunteer librarian at the Brookline retirement home in State College. Ardyce is survived by her three sons, Steven Jensen (Leola) of Philadelphia, Curtis Jensen (Janae) of Palm Bay, FL, and Bryan Jensen of State College. She was preceded in death by her sister Violet. Ardyce has four grandchildren, Theodore, Karl, Kirsten and Neil, and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 4 until 6 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College. The funeral service will be at 11 AM on Friday, January 23, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1250 University Drive, State College, with the Reverend Daniel Nold officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, beside her beloved husband of 65 years. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home.
