Obituary of Claude Helton

Claude George Helton, 58, of State College, died Friday, March 6, 2015, at his residence. Born October 7, 1956 in Mt. Union, he was the son of the late John Morris Helton and Mary Jane White Helton, who survives in State College. Along with his mother he is survived by four brothers, John R. Helton and his wife Nora, of Kelowna, B.C. Canada, Robert N. Helton, of State College, Morris E. Helton and his wife, Kimberly, of Harrisburg, Ronald C. Helton, of State College, three sisters, Carol J. Ahmed and her husband, Omar, of State College, Ruth "Denna" Gibbs Helton , of Mount Union, Vicki A. Edwards and her husband Kevin, of State College and numerous nieces and nephews in the US, Canada and Australia. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Russell Helton and a sister, Martha Ann Helton. He is also survived by a very loyal friend, Vernon Davis, who was like a brother to him and a caring neighbor, Mrs. Meredith. Claude was a 1975 graduate of Mount Union Area High School. He was employed by Penn State University in the OPP Department and Centre Daily Times as a Route Driver throughout the Centre Region. He had an exceptional work ethic. He was a member of the Unity Church of Jesus Christ in State College. He enjoyed football, baseball, wrestling and NASCAR. His favorite football teams were Notre Dame and the Minnesota Vikings. His greatest joy was spending time with family, church family, and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 10 a.m. till 11 a.m. at Unity Church of Jesus Christ, 145 Gill Street, State College, PA 16801. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Unity Church of Jesus Christ with Pastor Harold McKenzie officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hall cemetery.
