Alice Brahosky

Obituary of Alice Marie Brahosky

Alice Marie Brahosky, age 77, of State College, PA died April 15, 2015 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. A daughter of Joseph and Margaret Lentz, she was born on August 26, 1937 in Latrobe, PA. On June 25, 1960 she married Albert Eugene Brahosky, her beloved husband who preceded her in death on August 31, 1999 after 39 years of blessed marriage. Alice is survived by her children, Michael, Vance, Beth Anne, and Stephen and their spouses, Carolyn, Jessica, Roger, and Jodi. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Tyler, Kaleigh, Devon, Olivia, Sarah, and Megan and a sister Helen Damico. Alice is preceded in death by her mother and father, a sister Elizabeth, and her brother George. Alice was a 1955 graduate of Latrobe High School and a 1958 graduate of Latrobe Hospital School of Nursing and enjoyed a career that spanned nearly six decades as a registered nurse and provided care for thousands of patients. Alice was a dedicated mother and wife; always supportive, always nurturing, always caring. She served her family in so many ways leading by example and instilling the values of hard work, loyalty, integrity, and compassion. Mom had a shining personality, a great sense of humor and we all have our own special “Alice” story to remember her by. As children, swimming, picking berries, making jams, baking, gardening and her extravagant Christmas and Easter celebrations made for cherished memories. One of mom’s greatest strengths was her compassion for others and being a care giver. She felt the calling to become a nurse as a child and served joyfully and dutifully for an incredible 57 years even up to the day she was hospitalized. With great respect for preserving the dignity of the human condition, she treated her patients as individuals, listened to them, and was a fierce advocate for them. Countless people were touched by her. Through her “calling”, she served God well as His servant. Mom honored her wedding vows as a devoted wife for 39 years and cared for our dad for over 9 long years before he left this earth. She was an example of forgiveness and humility. God bless you mom for all that you did for dad in those difficult times. One of the greatest gifts she gave her children was instilling in them strong Christian values built upon her unshakeable Catholic faith as she lived her life firmly devoted to her savior, Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary. There is now a big hole in the lives of her children, extended family and friends. Let us continue to pray for her soul and gather strength from our fond memories of her and the life she led here on earth. Mom will be missed, but she will never be forgotten. Dear Lord, we pray that You embrace our mom and reunite her with dad and the other beloved departed souls in heaven. Visitation will be on April 17, 2015 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, PA.
